Meet Tiber Health’s University Partners

For 10 years, the Tiber Health Master of Science in Medical Sciences (MSMS) has been helping talented students prove they have what it takes to excel in medical school, dental school, and other health professional programs. The MSMS plays a major role in Tiber Health’s mission to “bring health sciences education to the places that need it most.” To support that mission, we take a selective, deliberate approach to choosing the colleges and universities with which we partner.

We look for schools that serve ethnically, culturally, and socioeconomically diverse students. We also aim to partner with schools that have strong undergraduate programs in health sciences, as well as a demonstrated interest in adopting dynamic, technology-enhanced educational programs.

We’re proud of the partnerships we’ve developed since we first launched the MSMS at Ponce Health Sciences University (PHSU) in 2014. Here’s a look at our current Tiber Health university partners as of Fall 2024.

Bethel University – St. Paul, Minnesota

Founded in 1871, Bethel University is a Christian institution that aims to help students forge careers powered by faith. They offer exceptional academics driven by values to support students as they become the leaders they’re called to be.

Bethel has dedicated itself to “inclusive excellence.” Since 2012, the number of students of color on campus at Bethel has doubled, and they continue to attract students from communities of all types.

The Bethel MSMS program is offered face to face or online. It features co-curricular experiences and seminars designed to help students form a spiritual and ethical perspective on their future roles in the health professions. All graduates are guaranteed an interview with Bethel’s Master of Science – Physician Assistant program. The top 20% of each graduating class are guaranteed an interview with PHSU’s MD program at the St. Louis, MO campus.

Jacksonville University – Jacksonville, Florida

Established in 1934, Jacksonville University (JU) offers over 100 programs of study in northern Florida. With a total student population under 5,000 and a student-faculty ratio of 14:1, JU can provide students with personal attention and guidance during their studies.

JU’s MSMS program is available as a full-time, in-person program or as a part-time online program. Students in the JU MSMS can pursue professional enrichment opportunities with local healthcare facilities in order to explore how they want to help improve the health of others. The top 20% of students who graduate from the JU MSMS receive guaranteed interviews to PHSU’s MD program.

Lasell University – Newton, Massachusetts

When you study at Lasell University, you are becoming part of a 170-year tradition of excellence. Originally founded as a women’s college, Lasell now serves students of all backgrounds and ages, including the residents of Lasell Village, its on-campus retirement community. Located eight miles from downtown Boston, Lasell offers students a close-knit, diverse community—37.5% of its students are students of color—where they can pursue personal growth and professional goals.

The MSMS at Lasell is a fully on-campus program that starts in January, May, and September of each year. Lasell can also help students make up any prerequisites they need to complete in order to apply to the MSMS. All prerequisites are available online or on campus.

Marymount University – Arlington, Virginia

Marymount is a private Catholic university located just outside Washington, DC. Founded in 1950, Marymount now serves a student population of over 4,000 that is recognized for its diversity. In fact, Marymount is Virginia’s only Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) recognized by the United States Department of Education.

The MSMS at Marymount is available as an in-person, on-campus program. The top 20% of each MSMS graduating class is guaranteed an interview with PHSU’s MD program in St. Louis (for English instruction) or in Ponce, Puerto Rico (for Spanish instruction).

National University of Health Sciences

Located 15 miles from downtown Chicago in Lombard, Illinois, NUHS is known for evidence-based integrative health education and an extensive network of healthcare partnerships throughout the region. It offers doctoral programs in chiropractic, acupuncture, and naturopathic medicine, as well as a master’s program in diagnostic imaging.

At NUHS, the MSMS is a fully on-campus experience, allowing students to engage in meaningful in-class discussions and activities. In addition to having access to NUHS’s library and other campus resources, students in the MSMS can take part in virtual dissections using a high-fidelity Anatomage table.

Simmons College of Kentucky – Louisville, Kentucky

Simmons College of Kentucky is Louisville’s only Historically Black College and University (HBCU), and was founded in 1871 to educate formerly enslaved people. We're proud to play a part in their amazing history, as we partner with them to offer their first graduate degree in a healthcare-related field.

The MSMS at Simmons aims to prepare its students for fulfilling careers supporting their communities as healthcare professionals and contribute to the diversification of the health workforce—an important step in reducing healthcare disparities by race and socioeconomic background.

Southern California University of Health Sciences – Los Angeles, California

Southern California University of Health Sciences (SCU) has been providing innovative healthcare education with an integrative approach since 1911. SCU’s programs combine western, traditional eastern, and complementary medicine in its programs. It offers a range of graduate and professional programs, including genomics, occupational therapy, acupuncture, a physician assistant program, and more.

SCU’s MSMS is available in three formats: full-time on campus, a hybrid program, or as a fully online part-time program. Students are paired with a faculty advisor who will help them define and pursue their career goals. Graduates can pursue a post-MSMS fellowship that sees them help teach courses and gain research experience. Depending on their success in the program, graduates may also become eligible for guaranteed interviews with the following programs:

  • SCU’s Master of Science – Physician Assistant program
  • PHSU’s MD program
  • Ross University School of Medicine’s MD program
  • American University of the Caribbean’s MD program
