Frequently Asked Questions About the Tiber Health Master of Science in Medical Sciences (MSMS) Curriculum
What is the MSMS Program?
The Tiber Health Master of Science in Medical Sciences (MSMS) is a pre‑medical master’s degree curriculum designed to help students build a strong foundation in medical sciences, improve their academic profile, and prepare for medical school or other professional health programs.
Coursework in the Tiber Health MSMS mirrors the first year of classes at LCME‑accredited medical schools, positioning students for success in a wide range of healthcare professions. Unique features of the curriculum include its flipped-classroom model and robust predictive analytics, which aims to help students understand their strengths and weaknesses.
Most students complete the MSMS in one academic year (typically three semesters) with a total of 42 credit hours. Courses are structured with two full semesters of core science and a final semester focused on review and application preparation.
Some Tiber Health University partners offer the program in a part-time format (which may also be available online). The part-time curriculum is structured to be completed in 20 months.
What makes the MSMS curriculum unique?
The Tiber Health MSMS curriculum uses a dynamic, flipped‑classroom model where students engage with digital lectures and readings before class and then apply that knowledge in interactive sessions, case‑based discussions, virtual labs, and competency exercises.
This active learning approach, paired with data analytics, helps students master complex concepts and develop essential clinical thinking skills.
What subjects are included in the MSMS curriculum?
The MSMS covers foundational biomedical sciences typically found in the first year of medical school, such as: • Gross Anatomy, Embryology & Imaging • Physiology I & II • Medical Biochemistry I & II • Microbiology • Neuroscience • Histology & Cell Biology • Medical Ethics • Interprofessional Perspectives in Health Disparities
How does the program help predict future performance?
A key feature of the MSMS is the Tiber Health Analytics Suite. This technology tracks student performance across subjects and compares data to benchmarks from successful USMLE Step 1 takers. The analytics dashboard provides personalized insight into your strengths and the areas in which you need improvement, offering a predictive range of future board exam performance. It guides your study goals and helps faculty and advisors provide you with tailored support.
Where is the MSMS offered?
The MSMS is available through Tiber Health’s network of partner universities across the United States. Each partner institution confers the degree, provides local faculty support, and establishes its own admissions criteria.
While many MSMS graduates go on to apply to medical (MD/DO) or other health professional schools, the degree also strengthens preparation for careers in: • Dentistry • Pharmacy • Optometry • Chiropractic • Physician assistant programs • Clinical research or related healthcare fields Graduates gain advanced scientific knowledge and practical skills that support a range of professional opportunities.
Does the MSMS lead directly to medical school admission?
Completing the MSMS does not guarantee medical school admission, but it has the potential to enhance an applicant’s academic record.
Additionally, our MSMS partner programs offer linkage opportunities, including guaranteed interviews for the top 20% students in each graduating class with the Ponce Health Sciences University School of Medicine (PHSU). PHSU is an LCME-accredited medical school with campuses in St. Louis, Missouri and Ponce, Puerto Rico.
Who should consider enrolling in the MSMS?
The MSMS is ideal for both academic record enhancers (recent college graduates with low MCAT scores or GPAs) and for career changers looking to enter health sciences.
The Tiber Health MSMS is offered through regionally accredited universities. The MSMS is a master’s degree conferred by these institutions. The curriculum mirrors the first year of coursework taught in medical schools that are accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME), the same accreditor all U.S. medical schools must be approved by.
How does the MSMS support student success?
In addition to rigorous coursework, the program offers ongoing performance analytics, personalized feedback, and interactive learning opportunities that help students identify areas for improvement and build confidence for future professional studies in medicine and healthcare.
The MSMS started at Ponce Health Sciences University and was offered at partnered universities for the first time in 2019.
